/ / Introduction

The bot that you are going to build will move when light is detected.

The Jitterbug is an extremely simple battery-powered photophobic robot that takes advantage of a CdS cell (light sensor). Light sensors are among the cheapest and most reliable components available to you.

When building your bot, you want to keep it as light as possible.

Circuit Parts

  • CdS Cell (Photocell)
  • 2N3904 transistor
  • 4.7K ohm resistor (yellow, purple, red)
  • Vibrator motor
  • 3 Volt CR2032 button cell battery
  • Battery clip
  • Hook-up wire
  • (optional) Ball bearings

Considerations:

  • How is the LDR exposed to the light source?
  • How heavy is your bot?
  • How do you balance your bot?
