- Open Photoshop and create a new document
- Select the shape tool and set your options

- While 'Shape 1' layer is still active, press + Option + T to duplicate the
path and transform it.
- While holding OPTION+SHIFT, drag any of the four corner handles towards the center
- Press RETURN to accept the transformation
- In the Options Bar and select the 'Subtract from area' to knock a hole into the original:

- Select the 'Path Selection Tool (A)' from the Toolbar and drag a box around
entire shape to select both sides of the path:
- Press + Option + T to duplicate the
path
- While holding OPTION+SHIFT, drag any of the four corner handles towards the center
- Press RETURN to accept the transformation
- The 'Path Selection Tool (A)' should still be selected.

- While holding OPTION+SHIFT, drag any of the four corner handles towards the center, but this time just a little bit:
- Let go of the OPTION and SHIFT keys and move the mouse until you see the rotate symbol. Then rotate a little bit

- Press RETURN to accept the transformation
- Press the + OPTION + SHIFT + T multiple times
and watch the last transformation repeat
Itself. The below shape is the final result:

- Press RETURN to accept the transformation
- Drag the layer over the new layer icon to make a copy. Turn the bottom layer off (Click on the eye)
- CTRL+Click in the space to the right of the letters in the layer and select Rasterize
- Select the Move tool (V) and drag the shape to where you want it. OPTION+click on the shape to create a duplicate. Press +U to change the color.
- Experiment with the blending modes
- Add more layers, merge others (+E)

- Click on the Move tool(V) and make duplicates of your shape by pressing OPTION and dragging.

- RIGHT+Click or CTRL+click on each shape layer (to the right of the word shape) in the layer palette and rasterize layer

- Click on the top layer and press +E to merge the top layer with the layer below. Continue until the shapes and colors are on one layer.
- Fill the background layer

- Duplicate the shape layer by pressing +J
- Play with the opacity and move the layer slightly

- Colorize a layer by selecteing it and pressing +u. Click colorize and adjust sliders

Option 2-–more colors
- Click on the Move tool(V) and make duplicates of your shape by pressing OPTION and dragging.

- RIGHT+Click or CTRL+click on each shape layer (to the right of the word shape) in the layer palette and rasterize layer

- Create layers underneath the shape layers (Press while clicking on the New Layer Icon). Then use a paint brush to paint in areas. You can use the eraser as well

- Click on the top layer and press +E to merge the top layer with the layer below. Continue until the shapes and colors are on one layer.

- You can duplicate the layer by pressing +J
- You can colorize the layer by pressing +U

- Use the bucket tool to fill in the shape

- For tiny areas, create a layer underneath the shape layer (Press while clicking on the New Layer Icon). Then use a paint brush to paint in areas. You can use the eraser as well

- If you created new layers, click on the top layer and press +E to merge the top layer with the layer below.
- Use your colored custom shape to make a background by using the move tool(V) and then OPTION, click and drag on the shape to make duplicates.

- Experiment with colorize. Select the layer. Pressing +U. Adjust sliders

- Experiment with adding a painted layer underneath the shapes

- Experiment with making duplicates of the shape layer and adjusting blends.
